Joshua Tree National Park Petroglyphs. September 26, 2004 Sunday

The cave of petroglyphs:

Previous Slide

Next Slide

Image 1: You can see some of the petroglyphs here. These should be carvings. NOT paintings. Someone had taken it upon themself to "enhance" the native art.

Image 2: A closeup of the carvings. You can see some carvings had not been painted. But I almost see a mermaid and tree in the painted ones.

Image 3: A slightly different angle of the first picture.

Image 4: Another closeup of the carvings.

Image 5: On the right is this image. It looks to me a father figure with five "children".

Image 6: A closeup of the Father and Children.

Image 7: A slightly different angle of the first carvings. You can see the patina clearly in the lower right area.

Image 8: Closeup of the carvings.

Image 9: On the far left we have four more carvings.

Image 10: Antelope?

Image 11: Cattle?

Image 12: I'm not sure what it is. Looks like an arrow or club of some sort.

Image 13: I have no idea what this is.

Image 14: The trail a little bit on. Nice place to rest out of the sun
